![]() ------------------------------------------------ Hang on, Planet Earth, Help is on the Way! - US Politics Today, June 2010 In the ongoing search for real-world solutions, BFI is having a significant impact by focusing on integrated, whole-systems principles that look beyond specialized problem sets. By championing this approach of truly comprehensive design, pioneered by Buckminster Fuller, we are enabling today's leading practitioners to work beyond disciplines, do more with less, and create an enduringly sustainable future for all. Or as Allan Savory, the the 2010 winner of the Buckminster Fuller Challenge, put it: “What the BFI is doing is so important, they are committed to giving people the opportunity to think in a different way.” 2010 has been a truly exciting, eventful, and impactful year for BFI. We have been all over the country connecting with our core network and expanding our horizon to reach new audiences with our important work. Many of you joined us as we celebrated the third Challenge winner at events hosted by the National Press Club and American University in Washington D.C.; hosted workshops, panel sessions, and installations at the Bioneers conference, the Long Now Foundation, the Zero1 Festival, the Autodesk Gallery in the San Francisco area; launched an entirely new website; and opened our public study center here in New York - all with a dedicated but very stretched staff of three full-time employees. And yet with such a successful and busy year coming to a close, BFI is faced with a significant fundraising mountain (or in our case, triangle) to climb. To ensure that BFI ends the year in the positive, we need to raise $25,000 by the end of December. Throughout the month of December, we will be tracking all donations coming into BFI and sharing the latest total with our network until we can reach the $25,000 mark (see above). Please consider a generous tax-deductible donation* today, and stay posted for updates on our December fundraising goal. On behalf of our entire board, staff, and interns we thank you in advance for your support! ![]() *The Buckminster Fuller Institute is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Donations of $100 or more may receive a complimentary poster of Fuller’s Raleigh Edition Dymaxion Map, printed 2009.
